Host/Provider: Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the budget for development cooperation.

Fields of Study: Fellowship is provided any one course offered by Dutch institution (applicant should be employed in a subject area to which the study will make a relevant contribution)

Level (Degree): The fellowship is available for pursuing master’s, PhD and short courses.

Target Applicants: Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Peru, Albania, Georgia, Philippines, Armenia, Ghana, Rwanda, Autonomous Palestinian Territories, Guatemala, Senegal, Bangladesh, India, Somalia, Benin, Indonesia, South Africa, Bhutan, Jordan, South Sudan, Bolivia, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Burkina Faso, Macedonia, Sudan, Burundi, Mali, Surinam, Cambodia, Mongolia, Tanzania, Colombia, Mozambique, Thailand, Djibouti, Myanmar (Burma), Uganda, DR Congo, Nepal, Vietnam, Egypt, Nicaragua, Yemen, Eritrea, Nigeria, Zambia, Pakistan and Zimbabwe can apply for this fellowship. (Visas and Authorisations for Temporary Stay can no longer be applied for in all countries as Dutch embassies and consulates have closed or will be closing in a number of countries). The chances of obtaining an NFP fellowship increase if you live and work in Sub-Saharan Africa and/or if you are a woman.

Eligibility/Requirements: A candidate applying for an NFP fellowship must:
-be a professional with at least three years work experience;
-be a national of, and working and living in one of the countries in the NFP country list valid at the time of application. If for whatever reason a candidate stays in another country than his or her home country for more than 90 days before the start of the course and/ or programme, he or she is not considered to be living and working in his or her home country;
-be nominated by his or her employer, who pledges to continue paying the candidate’s salary and guarantees the candidate will be able to return to an equivalent position after the termination of the fellowship period;
-have been unconditionally admitted to a Dutch institution for the course or programme for which the candidate applies for an NFP fellowship. This means that the candidate must have met all the academic and administrative requirements set by the Dutch institution;
-not be employed by:
-a multinational corporation
-a bilateral donor organization;
-a multilateral donor organization;
-a large national and/or large commercial organization;
-an international NGO.
-have a clear-cut, functional relationship with a relevant employing organization and be in a position to introduce the newly acquired skills and knowledge to that employing organization;
-be available full-time to pursue the course or programme without interruption, and be physically and mentally able to participate in the entire programme;
A candidate applying for an NFP-PhD fellowship must:
-not have accepted an NFP-PhD fellowship in the past;
– pursue the PhD study following a ‘sandwich’ or ‘picnic’ model, which means that at least a quarter of the PhD study activities in the context of field research must take place in the candidate’s home country and/or region. A quarter of the PhD study is calculated from the start date of the PhD-study (research) until the end of the NFP-PhD fellowship.
A candidate applying for an NFP-SC fellowship must:
-not have accepted more than one NFP-SC fellowship in the past;
– not have accepted an NFP-SC fellowship in the year prior to the fellowship application.
A candidate applying for an NFP-MA fellowship must: not have accepted an NFP-MA fellowship in the past;
A candidate participating in an NFP-RC fellowship must:
-be an NFP, MENA, NPT or MENA alumni, having completed
-not have accepted more than one NFP-RC fellowship in the past;
-not have accepted an NFP-RC fellowship in the year prior to the fellowship application.

How to Apply:  Students must apply for academic admission directly at the Dutch institution. Their admission must be unconditional in terms of their education and language proficiency. Conditional admission may be granted only to students finding suitable for the programme. The application must be submitted online through Scholarships Online (SOL) before the fellowship application deadline.

Fields of Study:  CIHR categorizes health research in four broad themes: Biomedical Research; Clinical Research; Health Services Research; Social, Cultural, Environmental and Population Health Research.

Course Level: Fellowships provide support for highly qualified candidates in all areas of health research at the post-PhD or post-health professional degree stages to add to their experience by engaging in health research either in Canada or abroad.

Target Applicants: Canadian and international students can apply for the fellowships.

Eligibility/Requirements: -As the Nominated Principal Applicant, you must be a trainee and meet the minimum commitment of 75% of your time (minimum of 30 hours per week) in the research fellowship role proposed in the application.
-A primary supervisor must be identified on the application. An additional supervisor may be identified.
-At the time of application, you must hold or be completing, a PhD or a regulated health professional degree. You must expect to complete all of the requirements of your doctoral or Health Professional degree by the latest possible date on which you can take up your award (see Effective Dates). To determine if a particular health profession is eligible, please consult the list of Eligible Health Professions.
-Candidates who have obtained a doctorate degree (course-based or research-based) more than three years prior to the competition deadline are not eligible (Exceptionally, for this competition, candidate eligibility will be calculated in date of October 1, 2013). Interruptions, delays or post-degree clinical training in your post-PhD cumulative experience may be taken into account in determining eligibility if detailed information on the interruption, including specific dates, is provided. Valid interruptions include child rearing, illness, or health-related family responsibilities or, for health professionals only, engagement in post-degree non-research related clinical training (residency, etc.) and for up to 2 years only. CIHR uses the date of degree completion to determine applicant eligibility. This is the date on which all requirements of your degree have been met, including successful defense and submission of the corrected copy of your thesis.
-The program is open to both Canadians and citizens of other countries.
-These awards are normally held at Canadian institutions. However, Canadian citizens and permanent residents are eligible to hold their awards outside Canada. Candidates, who are neither Canadian citizens nor permanent residents of Canada, are eligible for awards to be held in Canada only.
-A recipient of a Doctoral Award with a health professional degree may apply for the Fellowship funding opportunity no earlier than during the last year of their award.
-Individuals eligible to apply to the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships program or the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program may also submit an application to the CIHR Fellowship programs

Eligibility/Requirements: Nationality: VIB International Postdoc program “OMICS@vib” is open to applicants from all nationalities. Applicants should not have been carrying out research in Belgium for more than 12 months during the last 3 years before the deadline of the program on 15/9/2013. Postdocs selected for this program should be able to start their postdoc project before 1/6/2014.
-University degree: Applicants must hold a PhD degree before the start of the fellowship, but not necessary when applying.
-Publication record: Applicants must have a proven record of research accomplishments and at least one original first author publication (including joint authorship), either published or accepted in an international peer-reviewed journal with high recognition in the field.
-Age: Candidates should not have more than 5 years of postdoc experience at the moment of the deadline 15/9/2013.
-Career Break: One additional year will be taken into account for every childbirth or any other officially stated career break reason (caring for sick children or parents, additional studies…)
-Language: English is used in all VIB laboratories for oral and written scientific communication. Candidates must deliver proof of a solid English working knowledge. Adding TOEFL test results in your cv is recommended.

Host/Provider: Institute for Advanced Studies on Science, Technology and Society (IAS-STS)

Fields of Study: The Fellowship programme 2014-2015 is dedicated to projects investigating the following issues: Gender – Technology–Environment, Life Sciences/Biotechnology, Sustainable and Innovative Public Procurement & Ecodesign, Towards Low-Carbon Energy Systems and Sustainable Food Systems.

Level (Degree): The Institute for Advanced Studies offers an international Research Fellowship (up to nine months’ stay) and Visiting Scholarship (around one month’s stay) at the IAS-STS.

Target Applicants: International researchers can apply for these fellowships.

Eligibility/Requirements: The IAS-STS is directed towards young scientists as well as senior scholars wishing to conduct research into the interrelationship between science, technology and society. Eligible candidates must have completed university or college studies. Preference is given to Fellowship applicants working on their dissertation or postdoctoral thesis. The IAS-STS is open to participants from all countries of origin and academic positions. In order to ensure an interdisciplinary structure and a wide variety of research methods, the Institute endeavours to appoint Research Fellows and Visiting Scholars from a wide range of disciplinary backgrounds. Moreover, the IAS-STS aims to appoint an equal number of male and female researchers.
